SingHealth Medical Clinic Moves to Xinghai Building

Suzhou Industrial Park SingHealth Medical Clinic held an opening ceremony for its new facility at Xinghai Building on December 17. Director Yang Zhiping of SIP Administrative Committee and Consul-General Ong Siew Gay in Shanghai attended the ceremony.

SingHealth Clinic opened in early 2007 to serve foreigners working and living in SIP from over 80 countries and regions. "We emphasize clinical diagnosis, use medicine only when absolutely necessary, and manage to minimize the quantity of invasive treatment," said a doctor. Among thousands of patients received by the clinic every month, half are from local and surrounding areas.

SingHealth opened its second clinic (Gentle Medical Clinic) in 2011 at Hudong (east of Jinji Lake) and the third (Singhealth @ Global 188) in 2012 at Global 188 Center. Starting from two doctors and two nurses in 150-square-meter offices, it now has over 30 medical professionals and a total service area of more than 1,000 square meters. The receptionists are able to take appointments and answer inquiries in Chinese, Cantonese, Hokkien, English, French, German, Korean, and Japanese.

Among nine doctors of the clinic, five are general practitioners from Singapore and four are specialists from Germany, Philippines, and mainland China. There are also therapists of Chinese and Western medicines. All Singaporean doctors are bilingual and all physicians rotate among inpatient, outpatient, and emergency departments.

Director Yang said SingHealth is an important supplement to SIP's medical service system and an international sample for SIP to innovate its medical services. He promised that SIP government would invest more in public health and allocate medical resources more reasonably so as to ensure public access to basic as well as customized medical services.
